Plan in enough time to check out the gay-friendly restaurants like Motto, the gay Café Savoy and multiple other gay and LGBT venues all around Vienna. The gay sauna Kaiserbründl is just one of the four men sauna in the town and famous for its long historical background. We loved to explore the gay neighborhood around the Naschmarkt in the districts 3, 4 and 5 and to visit one of the most beautiful gay saunas we have seen so far.
Since we were in Vienna for Life Ball, we had to full days to explore the Austrian capital while two days were filled with all the events as part of the Life Ball 2018. We stayed at the 5-star gay-friendly design hotel Le Méridien Vienna. One of the first things on our list was a gay guided tour around the city center along the Ringstraße to get familiarized with the structure of the city and the customs of the local LGBT community. Vienna is subdivided into 23 districts with its most central district one. Thanks to our Vienna Card, we were able to use all public transportation in Vienna during our stay. From here, it is an easy ride by taxi or train shuttle service, called CAT (short for City Airport Train). We traveled to Vienna flying directly with Austrian Airlines from Amsterdam to Vienna Schwechat. A lot has changed in the last couple of years as Vienna developed into a flourishing, modern city with great effort and support of the local LGBT community. A milestone for the LGBT community in 2018 was undoubtedly the legalization of the same-sex marriage in Austria just recently.
